Qualifications for ALUM Scholarships

ALUM ScholarsThe Auburn Alumni Association Endowed scholarships now provide the opportunity for children of Life members of the Association to receive scholarships to Auburn University during their first year at Auburn.

To be eligible for consideration for this scholarship a student must:

  • be a child of an alumnus of Auburn, parent or guardian;
  • have a parent or guardian who is a life member of the Auburn Alumni Association;
  • be an incoming first-year student (to include transfer students) who has achieved academic excellence. This includes having a 3.0 GPA and scoring at least a 29 on the ACT or the equivalent on the SAT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is the scholarship renewable?

A. The scholarship is for one year only – it is not renewable

Q. How much is the scholarship for?

A. The amount of the scholarship equals in-state tuition. Tuition for out-of-state students is three times that of in-state tuition. For any out-of-state student who receives a full tuition scholarship, Auburn University waives another third, leaving a balance of one-third tuition for the student to cover - the equivalent of in-state tuition.

Q. Is there an application to fill out?

A. There is no scholarship application to be completed. As long as the student is admitted and has paid all necessary admission fees by December 1 of the year prior to enrollment and meets the scholarship criteria, that student will automatically be in the pool of eligible for the scholarship.

Q. Is there something special I need to do to be considered?

A. Regarding the admission application, the student must indicate on that application that the parent/guardian is an alumnus and provide the parent's name and address.

Q. What is the selection process?

A. In preparation for awarding the scholarships, the Scholarship Office provides the Office of Alumni Affairs with a list of parent/guardian names and addresses for those students who meet the academic criteria. Alumni Affairs checks the parents for life membership in the AAA and returns the list to the Scholarship Office with life members noted.

Q. Who makes final selections?

A. Based on those eligible students, the Scholarship Office makes all selections.
