Pamela Wells Sheffield

The Pamela Wells Sheffield Award was established April 27, 1991 to honor, commemorate and perpetuate the memory and good works of Pamela Wells Sheffield. The selection of this Auburn Athletic Department and Auburn University award is coordinated by the Office of Alumni Affairs.

Pamela Wells Sheffield was a 1965 graduate of Auburn. She married an Auburn man and she sent her children to Auburn. She was, by any definition, the consummate Auburn woman. Her love for Auburn went beyond affection. Her love was a commitment to Auburn and to its people, its students, staff, faculty and alumni. Auburn people were, and are, her people.

2007 Pamela Wells Sheffield Award Recipient

Rebecca S. Hatcher, president and owner of Hatcher Design Associates in Birmingham, is the recipient of the 2007 Pamela Wells Sheffield Award for service and commitment to Auburn University. The award was presented during ceremonies Sept. 1 at AU’s home football game against Kansas State University.

Hatcher graduated from Auburn University in 1972 with a bachelor’s degree in interior design and is a member of the AU College of Architecture, Design & Construction’s executive campaign steering committee. She also serves on the university’s Research Advisory Council and participated in the 2005 Innovation and Business Partnership Forum. A member of AU’s inaugural Lady Tiger basketball team from 1969-72, Hatcher served on the boards of the Kiwanis Club of Birmingham and Girls Inc. of Central Alabama. She and her husband, Everett, live in Mountain Brook.
