The MAIN Event Homecoming Weekend 2009 was a huge success with alums and friends coming back to the Plains to celebrate and reconnect

Friday night’s Mixer at the Alumni Center allowed alumni and friends to mix and mingle while enjoying the smooth sounds of DJ Soul of Atlanta. Light hors d’oeuvres and open bar kept the energy flowing. Special guest, Lionel ‘Little Train’ James ’89 drew a huge following that night and spent quality time with the alumni reminiscing and laughing. Even Aubie made a special appearance, giving everyone a quick photo opportunity. The décor was compliments of the Multicultural Center and student art work focusing on Diversity.

MAIN Brunch 09

The Saturday morning Brunch was hosted by President and Mrs. Jay Gogue at the President’s Home. We were pleased to have Mr. Lionel James ’89 as the keynote speaker. We enjoyed a hot breakfast including grits & shrimp, fresh fruit, muffins and biscuits. Mr. James reminded us all of the love we have for our family and friends and how Auburn also has a special place in each of our hearts.

MAIN Mixer 09

Saturday night brought us to the Gala and ‘A night at the Museum’. A record crowd enjoyed great music from DJ Soul, light refreshments and a cash bar at the Jule Collins Museum of Fine Art. A large tent on the terrace served as the dance floor and the brisk fall night did not deter our alumni from burning up the dance floor. Many reunions and new friendships were witnessed and the Auburn spirit of family was definitely in the house.

If you were not able to join us this year, mark your calendars now for Homecoming 2010! Pictures of the entire weekend can be found on Flickr.
