The Greater Houston Auburn Club held an event where they collected "sticky" supplies to go along with their theme of "Sticking Together Because We Believe in Auburn and Love It!" Glue sticks, tape, bottled glue, rubber cement, and Post-it notes were just some of the items donated. The club wrote handwritten notes of support to players and coaches and included them in a box of supplies that was shipped to the athletic department with instructions for the team to keep the notes, but to donate the supplies to the Auburn City Schools. The rest of the supplies were donated to Houston Children's Charity, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Houston's underserved, abused and disabled children.

The Emerald Coast Auburn Club began 2012 by sending out a survey to its membership asking for input on events as well as preferred methods of communication. One hundred percent of those who responded preferred email as the best means of communication, with Facebook a distant second. Website and the local newspaper ranked much lower. Many of those who responded to the survey suggested an e-newsletter…and the club listened, and launched Tiger Tales, a quarterly newsletter. Back issues of the newsletter can be found on the club's website.

In the fall, the group took boats to Crab Island, a local hangout on the water, where they gathered at a sports bar to network and discuss the upcoming football season. The casual meeting spots have generated new interest for the young alumni group. The group also maintains a Facebook page.

First Runner-up: Rob Crabtree, Greater Birmingham Auburn Club

Establish an Auburn Club
The Auburn Alumni Association serves chartered Auburn clubs nationwide. The policy for Auburn Clubs is set forth in Article XV of the by-laws of the Association, and available upon request to the Office of Alumni Affairs.
Chartered Clubs
A chartered Auburn Club is one that has met all the prescribed requirements of the association. To be considered for a chartered club, the club area must have a minimum of 250 alumni within a 50 mile radius, and 50 active dues payers in the Auburn Alumni Association. Other charter establishment requirements are set forth in the Auburn Club Charter Credentials. Once the requirements have been met, the club will be recognized through the issuance of a club charter. The Office of Alumni Affairs supports such clubs by providing the resources and services described under the heading "Alumni Association Assistance."

Geographical Limit
An Auburn Club can be located anywhere in the nation or world. However, it is the policy of the Association to charter only those clubs where there are 250 or more alumni within a 50 mile geographical radius.
Application Procedure
The Office of Alumni Affairs must receive five or more letters from alumni in a prospective club area. These letters should indicate an interest in organizing an Auburn Club and a willingness to serve in a leadership position to make this organization possible. Any such group should apply to the Director of Auburn Clubs. Upon receiving the minimum letters of application, and determining that the proposed club area meets the geographic and alumni requirements, the Office of Alumni Affairs will conduct an organizational meeting which will create the framework for an unchartered Auburn Club. Following completion of requirements stated in the Governing Guidelines and Auburn Club Charter Credentials, the charter for an Auburn Club will be issued. Formal presentation of the club charter will be made at the annual Association meeting, usually Homecoming weekend.
Name of Club
It is the policy of the Association to require that the name of the Auburn Club reflect its geographical location. That is, each local Auburn Club shall be known as the (name of city, county, or area to be inserted) Auburn Club.
Membership
An Auburn Club is for all Auburn alumni and friends. The Auburn Alumni Association is dependent upon dues-paying members to provide the necessary financial support to help carry on the services and programs required for an effective Auburn Club Program. According to Section 5 of the Policy for Auburn Clubs included in the by-laws of the Auburn Alumni Association, active membership in an Auburn Club shall be limited to the active members of the Auburn Alumni Association. All club officers must be active dues-paying members of the National Alumni Association, but the by-laws of any club provide that worthy and loyal friends who are not alumni may become associate members of the local club. All clubs should promote this effort, since Auburn has tremendous non-alumni support from people across the state, region, and nation.

May/June Club Officer of the Month
Nancy Carlton Bendinger ’01, secretary, Lee County Auburn Club
Since graduating from Auburn in 2001, Nancy Bendinger has been an active part of the Lee County Auburn Club, serving as president, vice president, and both co-chair and chair for the club’s annual dinner; she currently serves as secretary, but she says serving as an officer is not the most important part of being in the club.
“More than anything, my membership in the Lee County Auburn Club has meant friendship and camaraderie with fellow alums and friends of Auburn,” Nancy said. “It has also been an excellent means of giving back to Auburn and encouraging local students to stay in the area to attend AU. I’ve met so many great people through our board, the events we host and through the young alumni in the area. It’s truly been a meaningful and rewarding way to give back to the university that has given me so much.”
Those who do not live in Lee County might think this club has the largest membership and most resources, but that is not always the case.
“We are uniquely positioned geographically, which presents incredible opportunities but also brings great challenges as we compete with all the other numerous and wonderful activities and events on campus,” Nancy explained. “Those challenges have made our board work even harder and be more creative in reaching out to the alumni in our area, and we work closely with, and appreciate, the staff members of the alumni association, who are always willing to go above and beyond to help our club, and every club, succeed.”
Nancy’s love for Auburn began at a very young age.
“My grandfather attended before leaving for World War II, and he instilled a great love of Auburn in all of his children and grandchildren,” Nancy said. “All of my cousins (on my father’s side) have, or are, attending Auburn, including the youngest, who will be a junior this fall. My dad was president of the TCC (Tallapoosa-Coosa County) Lake Martin Auburn Club when I was growing up, so I saw an Auburn club at work early on. My husband, Doug, and his brother and sister have all served as president of Auburn clubs. Auburn and Auburn clubs run deep in our family.”
Nancy works from home as a brand partner with Nerium International and as owner of Clenney Kasso Creatives, but her most important (and favorite) jobs are mom to her 3-year-old daughter, Dalton Ruth, and wife to her husband, Douglas.
Nancy spends her spare time giving back to her community through Junior League of Lee County, where she has been a member for almost 10 years and has served on the executive committee for four years, including a stint as president. She was recently appointed to the City of Auburn Parks and Recreation advisory board and has joined 2014 Project Alabama, a nonpartisan campaign to get more women elected to state and federal levels of government. Nancy is the immediate past president of the Auburn Beautification Council and is looking forward to her eighth year of rush as the recruitment adviser for Alpha Omicron Pi at Auburn. She is a past board member for the Lee County Red Cross, the AU Campus Club and the Opelika-Auburn Newcomers Club.
